Blogroll
I love all forms of building community, especially ones that take place in new frontiers (like cyberspace) and especially especially ones I don't have to put shoes on to build. I love these blogs, and their bloggesses. Our journeys aren't all alike (and really, whose are?) but they, you know, get it:
Ellie @ One Crafty Mother
Ellie has over 2 years sober and manages the impossible: maintain her own blog, a fabulous Etsy custom-jewelry business, Shining Stones, and a lively presence on other people's blogs and on message boards. I get tired just reading about it. She is amazing.
Stefanie @ Baby on Bored
Every movement has its grande dame, and Stefanie is ours. She isn't the longest sober nor the first to write about it, but she is our Alcoholic Superwoman! She is one of the first names one hears in our world, and I am glad.
Kristin @ Jilli Java and the Garden of Eden
I look for Kristin every time I open my browser. She has serious time sober, and she reminds me every day that we are not just fighting something off, we are fighting for something. For Kristin, recovery is a way of life, and she lives it beautifully.
Robin @ Diet Coke on the Rocks
Hope @ A Song Not Scored for Breathing
Mary @ A Room of Mama's Own
Cecily @ Uppercase Woman
Clara @ Seeking Clara V
Maggie @ Okay, Fine, Dammit
Jennifer @ Angst Mom
Heather @ The Extraordinary Ordinary
Corinne @ Trains, Tutus and Teatime
Jae @ Chaos Ensues
Of course, life's also about looking to healthy pursuits and spending time doing what one loves to do. These are some of the places I visit each day, not listed in any particular order or for any reason other than how much I enjoy them and learn from them.
Jane@t Lights! Camera! Diapers! a real movieperson ... and she's funny!
J.B., @ Perplume, who asks the best questions and says the best things
Juli @ Wellington Road, American, Kiwi, universally appealing
Mindy @ The Mommy Blog, who is funny and poignant
Isle Dance @ Isle Dance, fresh, natural, gorgeous
Stephanie @ NieNie Dialogues, who says it all about faith and love
Anna @ Adoptive Momma of Two, for capturing how special adoption is
the women of Thistle Farms, whose voices are authentic and strong
Emily @ Chatting at the Sky, who reminds me to unwrap the beauty
And I check in each day with Heather and Jessica at Go Fug Yourself. They are funny, and spot on, in my view. They are snarky without ever really crossing over into mean, and while I enjoy fashion as much as the next girl there's something just plain fun about having a hoot at the clothes people who pay other people to dress them wear. They avoid directly deriding anyone's character, not getting too personal unless it's to chastise showbiz moms who let their 15-year-old daughters go to premieres wearing cellophane wrap and 5-inch heels or to offer a clearly starving starlet a sandwich.
